Dr. Sérgio C. Zilio research is aimed to the study of linear and nonlinear optical properties of materials and the development of news techniques for that purpose. Ultrafast pulses are employed to investigate the nonlinear refraction and absorption spectrum and dynamics, and to determine photophysical parameters. Coherent control methods are also used in order to enhance optical nonlinerities and optmize ultrafast laser pulses.
